Welcome...

Thanks for stopping by.  I'm pastor of First Baptist Church in Dupo, IL. My main purpose here is to keep you up-to-date on the life of FBC. Perhaps along the way I’ll share a few tales from the winding road…this journey called life, where God can be seen in the moments of our day if we are looking for Him.  ~Roger~

Thought for the Day

Fear and doubt are conquered by a faith that rejoices. And faith can rejoice because the promises of God are as certain as God Himself. ~ Kay Arthur ~

Words to live by...

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.  Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
Ephesians 6:10-13

Carry His Name

How merciful the cross, how powerful the blood
How beautiful Your arms, open for us.
By Your wounds we are healed, You have conquered the grave.
And in Your rising, we will rise to carry Your name above every name.

No greater love, God’s only Son – Jesus, Jesus
No other name, mighty to save – Jesus, Jesus.

I will carry Your name, carry Your name;
Jesus, Your name forever.
For all of my days, in all of my ways;
Jesus, Your name forever.
“Carry Your Name” Passion Band

That is our challenge on this Monday morning. As you begin a new work week, a new school week, a new week of retirement or motherhood or whatever will have your schedule full and your mind racing – your most important task is to carry His name. Unlike so many of the tasks on our list, this task is not burdensome but instead it is life-giving. And when you carry His name into your everyday routine, doing it all for His glory, you will know the life more abundant that He promises in His Word.

“In all of my ways, Jesus, Your name – forever.”
